Document signed by the widow Muiron, wife of the officer who sacrificed himself for Bonaparte at the Pont d'Arcole
On November 15, 1796, on the Arcole bridge, while charging at the head of his troops, General Bonaparte was targeted by an Austrian.
Muiron notices this and throws himself in front of Napoleon to protect him with his body. He pays with his life for this act of courage, which could have changed history.
Having become First Consul then Emperor, Napoleon I knew what he owed to the sacrifice of his aide-de-camp. He takes care of Muiron's family.
He also named a frigate named Muiron. It was on this frigate that he returned from Egypt a few weeks before his coup d'état of 18 Brumaire.
Finally he mentions Muiron in his will, leaving a substantial sum to his family.
The document we are offering is signed Muiron, it is apparently a document attesting to the correct delivery of a sum of 100 francs to his widow, emanating from the treasury of the Legion of Honor.
