Very old stock, but good condition, manufactured by David company during the First World War
They will be perfect to complete old outfits or for re-creations.
The 10 mm diameter buttons were used to attach the chinstraps of kepis, with buckles or with tabs on the back.
They can also be used for waistcoats, with metal buckle on the back.
From 1915, following the considerable losses of the French army, due in particular to the uniforms that were too flashy, the buttons were neutralized by blackening them, so that they would not shine, as was the case with the gold buttons, which made the enemy snipers happy
