A model with an openwork figure-8 hilt, a testament to the Second World War, during which the German authorities sought to hinder the practice of fencing in France (where "weapons" were used). As replacement blades were no longer available, broken blades were repaired by re-welding them, then wrapping a piece of metal, like a sardine can lid, over the repaired part...
