Polytechnician sword. Diabolo-shaped rivet button. Awarded to two successive Polytechnicians. Blade used in fight!

Fixed counter-guard. Total length 92 cm including a 76 cm blade.
Metal scabbard covered with leather. This sword was engraved in beautiful cursive letters with the name of a first owner, under the counter-keyboard and on the hidden part of the blade (not easy to read).
It was then re-engraved in 2015 with the name of a second owner who left it to the fencing master of the École Polytechnique, who clearly used it for show fencing matches!
This is perhaps the only sword of this model to be chipped from repeated combat. Its appearance is not that of a bread knife, but the edge is not smooth to the touch.
Good overall condition, moreover; this type of weapon is usually only used for ceremonies. The school's symbol is attractively gilded against a bronze background.
