Second Empire Carabiniere Troop Breastplate. Good period piece.
This set was recycled during the Second Empire, from earlier elements that were transformed to comply with the new regulations of the time.
The central element, which featured a rooster, was replaced by the imperial eagle.
The front and back are unfortunately not the same size.
When these breastplates were abandoned, the collectors who kept them were not always concerned about their wearability.
While the front and back generally presented a decorative appearance, the fact that they were not easily wearable was not an undue problem.
The front is therefore marked: Manufacture royale de Klingenthal August 1931, 2nd size, 1st length number 38.
The back is marked: Manufacture royale de Klingenthal June 1931, 2nd size, 2nd length.
So same size, same original year of manufacture but small difference in length.
The leather on one of the straps is cut, but the leathers are original.
A very decorative set, the metal parts are in their original condition.
A must-have
