Beautiful copy made in a very limited edition by the médaillier Franklin for the bicentennial of the Revolution.
The wooden support is damaged at one of the front attachments, but this doesn't prevent the saber from being attached.
Beautiful blued gold on the well-preserved blade, the saber is in excellent condition.
Beautiful hilt with meticulous finishing, gilded with 24-carat gold!
Few beautiful copies of revolutionary sabers exist; this is an opportunity to acquire one!
Length 99 cm including blade 84 cm. Without scabbard.
The production of this copy, the only one validated by the Musée des Armées, dates back to 1989...The object itself becomes an antique.
For those who have forgotten, Lafayette is a hero of American independence who largely contributed to freeing Americans from English rule.
He played an important role in the early days of the French Revolution. Under the Empire and the Restoration, he was forced to maintain a certain discretion due to his previous political activities, which were not always to the liking of the ruling monarchs.
He briefly reappeared as commander of the National Guard under Louis Philippe. A fine political longevity!
