Silver and enamel star (minor losses) with five double rays, bordered by a sprig of light green enameled oak and laurel leaves.
The obverse center features the effigy of Henry IV and the inscription in gold letters "HENRI IV," the good, consensus-building king who wished the French to eat chicken in a pot every Sunday; he thus survives, for the time being, on the Legion of Honor. A blue border bears the inscription "HONNEUR ET PATRIE" (Honor and Fatherland).
The suspension loop is in the shape of a crown with arches decorated with palmettes.
Total height with suspension loop: 6.5 cm. Diameter: 4.3 cm.
The ribbon is old, but does not date from the July Monarchy.
It also includes 3 lapel pins and 2 bars made during Third Republic (1871-1940).
