De Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw from its creation in 1815 until 1830 is an honorary order of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands - or Kingdom of Belgium - created on September 29 1815 by the first king of the Kingdom of Belgium, William I.
Its motto is “VIRTUS NOBILITAT” (virtue ennobles).
It is the oldest civil order in the Netherlands. Only people who have had particular merits for society of an exceptional nature can claim the order of the Lion of the Netherlands.
Height 79mm. Width 60mm
We found this superb decoration in a catalog of samples from David company, active from 1848 and which stopped its activity around 1960.
The back of the decoration is glued to the cardboard board, we did not want to remove it completely, but we can see that the back is in red morocco.
The quality of production is absolutely superb. Exceptional find. Only one sample for sale.
