Shako d'officier de la garde, brass parts mainly from XIX th century
For a head circumference of 54 cm.
We made this shako for the collection a few years ago.
In order to respect the proportions of period shakos, we chose to give it a rather small head circumference, so it will be difficult to wear in a reenactment.
The chinstraps are from the first third of the 19th century. They are made of gilded metal, lined with (worn) black velvet.
The eagle is a re-striking made for the return of ashes or during the Second Empire, to re-equip veterans for ceremonies.
The plate was struck with an original die, but it had very slightly oxidized over time. This can be detected with a very high-power magnifying glass, but is completely imperceptible to the naked eye. A recognized expert detected it, but the quality of the striking and gilding are exceptional.
Only one for sale.
